Kaş-Kekova, located in the southern part of Turkey, is one of the first places that comes to mind for divers in Mediterranean. Along with its cultural heritage, Kaş-Kekova is an important spot in terms of marine biodiversity. Over the past years, its rich biodiversity values are under threat due to human activities such as illegal amateur fishing, anchoring and excessive diving. Kaş-Kekova Marine Protected Areas (MPA) Project, undertaken between 2009-2012, aims the preparation and application of the marine management plan which has been completed with the participation of the stakeholders in Kaş and Kekova. Local fisheries, diving clubs, tour boats were involved in the decisions taken at all stages in order to form the common grounds to protect Kaş and Kekova’s natural assets and ensure sustainable use of natural resources. Kaş-Kekova MPA Project has been carried out under the MedPAN South Project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, General Directorate for Protection of Natural Assets and WWF Mediterranean Office. This documentary demonstrates the 4-year process of Kaş-Kekova MPA Project with footages taken from stakeholders and WWF Turkey & WWF Mediterranean project team. RID 3618
